Researchers' Original Idea Has Evolved Into Cutting-Edge Methods

Researchers developed MAIJU to closely monitor motor development and identify any issues early of a toddler.  Tracking a young child’s activity is more in hand.

For growing children, motor development is obviously crucial and affects their total development. The world is best learned and experienced by moving around and engaging with it. Early detection of developmental problems is advantageous for initiating early interventions that direct a child's general neurodevelopmental development. The University of Helsinki in Finland has created an innovative jumpsuit that can monitor a child's movements.  The MAIJU was developed by the researchers. It keeps a tight eye on motor development and spots problems early, enabling earlier therapies.

Earlier, it was challenging to follow children for extended periods of time even though doing so needed a spectator to sit and observe the child or video of them, or footage of them.  The objective is to keep a close eye on motor development and spot any problems at an early stage. Observing a toddler's activities could provide information about their development considering concerns with motor development can point to more serious neurological abnormalities. The MAIJU methodology has the particular benefit of enabling the researchers to conduct developmental evaluations in the child's natural surroundings, such as a home or day care. A technological advance in the creation of machine learning algorithms was required in order to create of the MAIJU wearable.

This must have been accomplished by fusing a novel type of motility descriptive summary combined with a young child’s activity. One of the suit's benefits is that it can keep an objective eye on kids for extended periods of time while they're in their natural habitats, including at home. A number of motion sensors are built inside the outfit.
