Nintendo Switch reaches a milestone after selling 1.35 million units in November 2020 and also launched a variety of games this year.
In November 2020, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite have sold more than 1.35 million units in the U.S.. The two main factors behind this over the top sales were Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping. With these sales numbers, Nintendo Switch again got the title of the bestselling video game console in the United States, and this streak has continued for 24 consecutive months.
During the Black Friday sale, Nintendo Switch launched a bundle that consisted of a Nintendo Switch system, a download code for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's digital version, and a Nintendo Switch Online Individual Membership. This bundle lets friends and families play all the compatible games online together. In 2020, Nintendo Switch has already surpassed the total number of units sold in 2019 by 426000, i.e., by selling 6.92 million units more.
This year some new games were launched such as Just Dance 2021, Super Mario 3D All-Stars, KINGDOM HEARTS Melody of Memory, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, Pikmin 3 Deluxe, and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Nintendo Switch has games for players of all ages such as Hades, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Mario Odyssey, Fortnite, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Minecraft Dungeons. However, it also has a parental control feature, where parents can control what their kids are seeing and playing.
According to the Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Nick Chavez, the Nintendo Switch is portable which enables users to play from anywhere. It can also be connected to the TV, making this device one of the best holiday gifts. He is very pleased to see the demand and the users' reaction to the consoles and he hope the device will continue to spread the magic even after the holiday season.
