MEDIATEK adds two new 5G enabled chipsets under the Dimensity series

The semiconductor company TSMC builds new smartphone chips for the MediaTek with 6 nm processors.

The Chipmaker Company MediaTek has unveiled its two new chipsets – the MediaTek Dimensity 920 and the MediaTek Dimensity 810 especially for the mid-range 5G smartphones. The new Dimensity chips are based on the TSMC’s 6 nm fabrication process. TSMC is the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturing company based in Taiwan. TSMC is the long-term technology partner of MediaTek. The new chipsets have more improvements than previous chips Dimensity 900 and Dimensity 800 chipsets. Both the chipsets are octa-core CPUs and support full HD displays with a 120 Hz refresh rate. furthermore, it has a multi-camera array and heterogeneous multi-processing. Dimensity 810 and Dimensity 920 are proposed for the premium as well as mid-range budget devices.

The Dimensity 810 is developed on a 6nm technology. With a maximum frequency of 2.4GHz, it is an octa-core System on Chip with Arm Cortex-A55 and A76 CPU cores. According to reports, it is 20% fast than the previous version. The SoC can handle a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and full HD display resolution. The chipset does support the LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 internal storage, and the gaming and graphics content is controlled by the MediaTek HyperEngine 2.0 and Arm Mali-G57 MC2, dual 5G stand by, Wi-Fi v5, Bluetooth v 5.1, NavIC, and supports 64MP multi-camera, as well as AI effects, are all supported by the Dimensity 810.

The MediaTek Dimensity 920, according to the firm, delivers up to 9% quicker gaming performance over the MediaTek 900. The Dimensity 920 CPU supports LPDDR4X and LPDDR5 RAM, as well as UFS 2.2 and UFS 3.1 storage, offering manufacturers more options when it comes to storage. The chipset combines flagship-grade noise reduction methods (3DNR + MFNR), the Dimensity 920 can capture 4K HDR video in 4K resolution. the MediaTek Dimensity 920 chipset can also handle 108MP main cameras along with multiple camera arrays.

The MediaTek Dimensity 810 and Dimensity 920 powered smartphones may arrive in the 3rd quarter of 2021.
