DuckDuckGo Designs a Browser for The Mac Desktop

The new iOS web browser focuses on users’ privacy.

An internet search engine developer, DuckDuckGo is famous for its user security. Now the company is working on a new platform focused on the users’ privacy of data. This version of the browser takes a step further in the field of the anti-tracking feature. CEO of DuckDuckGo, Gabriel Weinberg published a blog explaining the new version of the browser on the blog post. He posted that the users can expect full data protection from the trollers and scammers. Users can utilize this browser just like any ordinary browser.

He further explained that the desktop browser features a by default function of robust privacy protection. This function can deliver users' security without interfering with any concealed security settings. Similar to the mobile platform, the desktop browser also features a ‘Fire’ tab. This tab allows the user to immediately delete complete browser history, data, and working tabs in a single click. The browser has built up upon the algorithm of OS-provided rendering engines. A similar algorithm was utilized to support the mobile platform. The platform will generate a keener interface and disposes of any remaining clutter from mainstream browsers. This makes DuckDuckGo slightly faster than Google chrome.

Senior Communications Manager at DuckDuckGo, Allison Johnson stated that windows and iOS are offering rendering APIs that other platforms can utilize to render a website. Instead of that, creating a desktop application from the initial stages will be easy for the development team. This includes building platforms for windows, bookmark, password management. The browser will render Edge and Chrome on the Windows system, similarly, on the iOS system, Safari and Webkit will be utilized for rendering. This function is not similar to the forking function. The browser will be utilizing its platform with the support of an external browser.

The company is conducting beta testing for the iOS browser platform. The official release date of the browser is not yet disclosed by the company. Recently, DuckDuckGo has also developed an in-app built-in tool for their mobile platform. The desktop platform is also expecting to deliver the same amenity to the users.
